The Arctic anorak is the perfect wind-sheltering system. It is purposely designed wide and long to protect you even when bending over or reaching up over your head. We added a visor to the hood so you can comfortably wear our wool anorak as an underlayer without its hood getting wet. Sourced from the USA, our new Fall 2021 fabric is also water repellent. Available in 3 colors.

Note: We recommend you choose a loose fit in order to allow air to circulate within your insulation.

Fabric: 100% cotton, 10.10 oz treated army duck

Why a BMA anorak?

Inspired by traditional Indigenous outer shells, BMA anoraks are handmade in Canada with a commitment to provide you with heirloom quality, functional garments. Our anoraks are designed with a focus on thermal regulation– we make them wide and long to protect your vitals and allow for layering. In addition, we think reliability is especially important when out in the bush so we actively avoid using hardware that can fail like zippers and snaps. From the gauntlet to the sleeves to the kangaroo pocket, every detail was meticulously thought out to maximize your warmth and comfort while exploring nature.

BMA’s Dual Layering System

For all of you layering enthusiasts, we recommend one of our canvas anoraks to be worn over our wool anoraks. While each can be worn on their own, this combined layering system – wool inside, canvas outside – will keep you extra warm and dry. If you are considering two layers, we recommend starting with only a woolie first. Also, remember that your canvas anorak will likely need to be larger than your woolie so you can layer comfortably. For questions or more information about our dual layering system, feel free to contact us before your purchase and we’ll be happy to walk you through the process.

quality garment

Very well made, would have liked a heaver weight of canvas. That is my only gripe, overall it's a quality garment and has held up very well.

Arctic Rack becomes a four season garment

It’s summer in the north country so my The Arctic Anorak:copyright: made from the Buffalo Brown waxed canvas has not been tested by the winter winds yet. In the cool wet rain it has been great! Also I’ve worn it to keep the black flies and mosquitoes off. I love this fabric and the anorak. I tuck the hood visor in and my Arctic looks like the Wind Rack. This is a four season Anorak! Thanks!!

Boreal clothing for boreal dwellers

I really like it. I thought that it was more of a tan colour instead of raw cotton coloured. So I bought a bottle of Ritt clothes dye and it came out fabulously. Just follow the instruction. The anorak is great for riding on the motorbike. I also own a black wool Anorak from you people and I love it. Can hardly wait for winter.
